How to measure Furniture to make sure it fits your space
It's not easy to determine if a sofa will fit through a door or up a flight of stairs or into an elevator.
The most important lengths of the sofa are: the sofa width and the height of the sofa's back (the back of the sofa when you're sitting down - measure from floor to top of back).
• First, Measure the dimensions of the sofa: height, width and length, then you need to measure the height, from the floor to the top of the sofa's back.
• Measure the dimensions of the opening, whether it's a door or stairwell or elevator door.
If the sofa's back height is longer than the door's width, then the sofa's width will need to be narrower than the door's width.
For example, a door's width is 45" and the sofa's width is 48" and the sofa back height is 40". This means you can turn the sofa so that the sofa's back is facing the ceiling.
The sofa should slide through as long as the inside space will accommodate it (hallway or foyer).
If both the width and the back height are too long for the width of the door, then you need to consider the sofa's length. Measure the length of the sofa and the height of the door opening. The sofa's length will need to be shorter than the door's height.
Also check the entrance way to see how much room you have to maneuver - there should be at least a foot or more of space on either side of the doorway in order to shimmy the sofa through. If the inside space is a narrow hallway, the couch may not fit.
If for some reason, even after you have taken the precautions to measure you find that your Sofa doesn’t fit, or if you simply “must have that piece”, feel free to give us a call. At Dr. Sofa we firmly believe that size doesn’t matter and we will be more than happy to help you get that piece of furniture inside your home where it belongs.

Top 10 Romatic Movies Ever
In honor of Valentine’s day, we had a little poll in our office to find out what were the top 10 movies of all time. This is what we came up with:
10- Sleepless in Seattle (1993) : What if someone you never met, someone you never saw, someone you never knew was the only someone for you? This is the premise of this movie and that’s exactly why is so romantic! Fun fact: Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks only share approximately two minutes screen time together.

9- Jerry Maguire (1996): With catch phrases like “Show me the money” and “You had me at hello”, this flick, starring superstars Tom cruise and Renee Zellweger, has earned a place in pop culture and in our hearts.
8- Ghost (1990): This film has it all, Hot young Patrick Swayze, Everlasting love and one of the best love scenes of the decade. Messy clay. 'Unchained Melody.' Demi Moore and that perfect teardrop. Priceless.
7- Love story (1970): He is a rich handsome jock, she is a beautiful free spirited girl, they stay together through big obstacles... but there is a twist at the end! And it’s a tear jerker, grab a tissue and enjoy!!!
5- The Notebook : This story of star-crossed lovers captures the heartbreak and beauty of enduring love, and it's pretty hot too.
4- 'Wuthering Heights' (1939): A classic love story with a classic leading man Lawrence Olivier, it’s the tale of the rich girl, Cathy (Merle Oberon) who falls in love with a boy rescued by her father. The barrier of class comes between them and eventually she marries a rich neighbor at which point Heathcliff (Lawrence Olivier) disappears. He returns several years later, now a rich man but little can be done.
3- Titanic (1997): This smash hit by director James Cameron, featuring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio is the perfect date movie, the special effects and the gorgeous Kate will entertain the guys while dreamy Leo has the girls occupy.
2- Gone with the Wind (1939): It’s one of the most famous movies on earth and one of my personal favorites. It’s an epic love story where the heroin is a feisty southern belle that after getting her heart broken, has a love affair with a rouge man, all of this in the setting of the civil war in the south
1-Casablanca (1942): This story set in the beginning of World War II. The characters fall in love, when Ilda (Ingrid Bergman) thought he husband was dead, but after she finds out he is alive she leaves Rick ( Humphrey Bogart) without telling him anything. Later on she comes to find him because she needs his help for them both to escape. This is one of the most romantic and iconic movies of all times.
That’s our top ten here at Dr. Sofa. We hope you have a beautiful and romantic Valentine’s Day. Here is looking at you, kids!
